Ideal Home?

What are the most important factors? House, Location, Community, Garden, Schools, Commute...?

Your Italian Home-Finding Journey

If you relocated a year or more ago to Italy, chances are you may feel that you are not in the ideal home . You are not alone.

Why?

10 pounds of flour don’t fit in a 5 pound sack. Relocating to Italy is very complicated and stressful with so many things going on at the same time at the time of your arrival: codice fiscale, new cell phone number/service, permesso di soggiorno, driver’s license, transportation, culture shock in a new location, not to mention starting a new job in a new location.

During the inital relocation there simply isn't much time and energy to dedicate to house hunting. Apart from this, it typically takes about a good six months to get a lay of the land and a sense for a new area.

Newcomer Strategy

For newcomers, one strategy is to put off the house hunting until the dust of the relocation has settled by renting a small efficiency apartment, not take your shipment and find the right location and move when you have found the right place.
